COD Men’s Basketball Celebrates Home Opener with 71–63 Win Over Monarchs
College of the Desert (2–5) kicked off its home opener in front of a packed and energized crowd, and while temperatures dipped outside, it was raining shots inside the Garrow Athletic Quad. The Roadrunners rallied from an early deficit to secure a 71–63 victory over the Los Angeles Valley Monarchs (1–3).

The matchup marked LA Valley's first trip to Palm Desert in more than a decade, and COD continued its recent success in the series—now earning its fifth win in the last seven meetings between the programs.
Sophomore guard De'miem King (Palm Springs H.S.) powered the Roadrunners with a game-high 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, nearly posting a double-double with 9 rebounds and adding 2 steals.
Freshman guard Payton Joseph (Beaumont H.S.) dominated the glass with a season-high 12 rebounds—including seven defensive—while distributing 5 assists and contributing 8 points, going 3-of-4 from the free-throw line.
Sophomore guard Jayden Creavalle (Palm Springs H.S.) added 7 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals, while freshman guard Lee'Tron Turner (Indio H.S.) delivered a huge spark off the bench with 17 points on an efficient 7-of-11 shooting and a team-high 2 blocks.
Sophomore forward Stephen Shuffleton (Palm Desert H.S.) also chipped in with 4 assists, helping facilitate COD's balanced offensive effort.
The Roadrunners continue their four-game homestand on Tuesday, November 25 at 6 p.m., when they host a strong Irvine Valley Lasers squad (5–2).
