Strength & Conditioning
Tahir Johnson has been part of the Roadrunner family since 2016, first as a student-athlete and now as an integral member of the athletics staff. A lifelong competitor, Johnson began playing football at the age of six, and the sport quickly became his first love. He went on to suit up for College of the Desert Football during the 2016 and 2017 seasons, where he made his mark on the field before transitioning into a career supporting the next generation of student-athletes.
Since joining the COD athletics staff, Johnson has become a vital resource across multiple sports programs, with a particular focus on football and volleyball. He currently serves as Strength & Conditioning Coach for Roadrunner Volleyball, where he applies his knowledge of athletic performance, weight training, and conditioning to prepare players for the demands of both indoor and beach competition. His ability to connect with student-athletes and push them to reach their physical potential makes him a respected figure in the program.
In addition to his training responsibilities, Johnson plays a crucial role behind the scenes in the day-to-day operations of COD Athletics. His responsibilities include preparing facilities for competitions, overseeing equipment and uniform management, coordinating travel supplies, and ensuring each team has the resources they need to succeed. His work ethic and commitment keep COD athletics running smoothly year-round.
Passionate about sports and athlete development, Johnson takes pride in giving back to the program and community that helped shape his own athletic journey. He embodies the spirit of a true Roadrunner—dedicated, driven, and always ready to go the extra mile for his team.
