COD Women’s Volleyball snags huge win over the Comets in 5-set thriller, 3-2
COD (9-8; 2-2) played a tough back-and-forth contest which tested the will of the Roadrunners, but they rebounded and won their first 5-set match of 2017 with a victory over the San Marcos Palomar Comets (4-12; 1-3), 3-2.
COD (9-8; 2-2) played a tough back-and-forth contest which tested the will of the Roadrunners, but they rebounded and won their first 5-set match of 2017 with a victory over the San Marcos Palomar Comets (4-12; 1-3), 3-2.
The Roadrunners won this match 13-25, 25-21, 24-26, 25-23 and 15-12. Desert has won two straight matches and started the season 6-4.
Desert fell in set one, but built a late lead in the second set and held onto it. In the third set, the Roadrunners started out strong then faltered late and in the fourth set Desert found themselves down six points before rallying late for the win.
Freshman setter Ashtyn Lyneis (Palm Springs H.S.) led the team with 17 kills, had 20 assists, had 3 service aces, had 14 digs and had 3 block assists and freshman outside hitter Baylie Dashner (La Quinta H.S.) led the team with 4 service aces, had 13 kills and had 3 block assists.
Freshman setter Brooke Topliff (Rancho Mirage H.S.) led the team with 23 assists and had 6 digs.
Freshman middle blocker Nicole Svoboda (La Quinta H.S.) led the team with 9 block assists and sophomore libero London Felder (Alta Loma H.S.) led the team with 16 digs.
The next home game for COD is when they host, the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles on Friday, October 20 at 5 p.m.
