Women's Volleyball Sweeps Rio Hondo in Foothill Showdown
WHITTIER, Calif. - College of the Desert women's volleyball avenged their first conference loss of the season by dealing a duplicate blow to previously unbeaten Rio Hondo in a 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-22) sweep on Friday evening in Whittier.

Freshman Savannah Sharp (Palm Desert, CA/Palm Desert HS) was a dominant force on offense for the Lady Roadrunners, as she drilled 17 kills on 34 total attacks to go along with four digs. Sophomore Alyssa Cazares (Indio, CA/Shadow Hills HS) was also stellar, as she landed nine kills on 19 attacks, while recording two service aces and 11 digs.
Sophomore Maygan Zink (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs HS) fueled the COD attack, as she contributed 31 assists, seven service aces and 12 digs. Freshman Kaylie Edgar (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs HS) continued to rack up digs on the defensive end, with 17.
College of the Desert (7-9, 4-1) will be back home next Wednesday, October 28 for a Foothill Conference match against Cerro Coso. Tip time is set for 5:30 p.m.
