COD Women’s Soccer: Doyle welcomed back to new role, coach

COD Women's Soccer will welcome in a familiar face to its sidelines, Roadrunners and La Quinta H.S. alumnus, Taylor Doyle has joined the Desert coaching staff in 2021.

As the Roadrunners prepare to open the 2021 season this Friday, August 27 at home against the Los Angeles City Cubs at Boone Field under the lights for a 7 p.m. kick off. The Cubs and Roadrunners have never faced one another, as this is the Cubs inaugural season with a Women's Soccer program.

Two-year Roadrunner, Taylor Doyle was selected to the All-PCAC-North team for 2017 and 2018. In 2017, Doyle helped anchor a defense that supplied two team shutouts against Cuyamaca and Imperial Valley, assisting in five goals throughout the season. In 2018, she started in 19 games and collected four assists on the season. Her best game was on October 2nd, at Imperial Valley where Doyle contributed two assists in Desert's 6-1 victory. Doyle played a key role in some notable victories in 2018 as the Roadrunners defeated the Miramar Jets for the first time in program history.

Women's Soccer head coach, Garrett Estrin, commented about Doyle joining the coaching staff in June saying, "I am very pleased to have the addition of Taylor to our coaching staff. To get back a former Roadrunner like Taylor Doyle, who committed herself with her grit and grind attitude to our program as a solid defensive player is tremendous. It will be great to have her leadership around the program, as she now returns to start her coaching career."

In her two seasons at Bushnell University (NAIA) in Eugene, Oregon, Doyle started 29 games on the backline, playing in a total of 30 games. Her two seasons in Desert Gold and Roadrunner Red were also a mark of consistency, on the backline starting in all 40 games that she played. Doyle hardly ever missing a minute during those 40 matches, for her career at COD she totaled 9 points on 9 assists.
