Palm Desert - College of the Desert Women's Soccer hosted a Miramar team that was 2-1 in league and trying to position themselves for a run to the top of the conference standing. Desert wanted to even their conference record as the first half is winding down. The teams battled in the first half, but neither team could gain any advantage. At the half, the score was tied 0-0 with Britney Vargas coming up big with 7 first half saves. Melita Pena had her chances in the first half, as she provided the best runs at the goal in the first half. Miramar goalie, Natalia Tsepina, was equally as strong as Vargas denying everything that came her way. The start of the second half found Miramar as the agressor having opportunities to score early. The Jets mid Arianna Leese squeeked one past Vargas in the 53rd minute of the game. The Roadrunners found themselves with chances late in the game to even the score, but were unable to get a shot on net and the game would end with a 1-0 result in favor of Miramar. Vargas finished the game with 12 saves on the day. The Roadrunners fall to 1-3 in the PCAC. Miramar improves to 3-1 in conference play. The ladies will take on Palomar on tuesday at home. The game is set to start at 3:00PM.
