Tanner Bown
Head Coach

Coach Bown (pronounced “Bau-N,” like “Brown” without the “R”) made an immediate impact in his first season leading the Roadrunners, capturing the Orange Empire Conference – Inland Division Championship and qualifying a team member for the 3C2A State Championship. In his first two years at the helm, he has led the program to six tournament victories, including placing at the 2025 3C2A State Championship.

Coach Bown brings more than 20 years of experience in golf operations, leadership, and education. A four-year award-winning golfer at St. Cloud State University, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management before completing internships with the PGA and USGA. He later earned his Master’s Degree in Sports Administration from Canisius College, graduating with a 3.96 GPA.

Throughout his professional career, Coach Bown has served in leadership roles ranging from Director of Operations to General Manager at respected organizations including The Minikahda Club, The Quarry at La Quinta, and The First Tee. In 2015, he founded the Las Vegas Junior Golf Association and the Southern Nevada College Prep Tour, helping junior golfers pursue their passion and prepare for collegiate opportunities.

Currently, Coach Bown serves as the Lead Professor of the Golf Management Program at College of the Desert, working seamlessly alongside his roles as Head Coach of the Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams. His integrated approach to coaching and academics creates a unique environment where student-athletes grow both on and off the course.

His vision for the future at COD is clear: compete for conference and state championships and earn scholarship opportunities for his players at four-year universities. But beyond wins and titles, his deeper mission is development.

At College of the Desert, it’s important to Coach Bown that you’re not just becoming a better golfer, but a stronger individual — prepared for your next step in your collegiate career and in life.

Outside of coaching, Coach Bown enjoys golfing, traveling with his wife, Crissie, and their dog, Stella, and supporting her in running their luxury magazine, Henderson City Lifestyle.
