COD Women's Golf opens up 1st round of PCAC Finals at Sun Lakes

COD Women's Golf freshman Li Chi Liu (Palm Desert H.S.) tied for first in the first round of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference finals as the Roadrunners sent six participants to its ninth event of the 2016 season, hosted at the par-72 Sun Lakes Country Club in Banning.

All five PCAC schools participated in the first round, as Cuyamaca College took a 26 stroke lead over second place Desert going into Wednesday's final round. The Roadrunners will have a great deal of ground to cover, but confidence is high as conditions on Wednesday are expected to be warmer and dryer at the Banning course.

Liu had another impressive outing as she not only tied the individual portion of the match, but shot a 5 over-par 72 besting her nearest opponent by six strokes. She continues to lead in the PCAC "player's average" with a 75.1 per match, where she is ahead by 2.5 strokes.

Sophomore Kabrea Rosas (La Quinta H.S.) shot an 84, finishing 6th and sophomore Dominique Healey (Murrieta Mesa) shot a 104 for 13th place. Shooting a 107 was freshman Rhiannon Celaya (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) who finished 14th, improving two strokes over her last outing.

Shooting a 115 was freshman Jessica Garday (Palm Desert H.S.) and freshman Alexa Perez (Indio Shadow Hills) shot a 126 to wrap up the afternoon for the Roadrunners.

COD will make their final Conference appearance at Sun Lakes Country Club in Banning on Wednesday, November 2 as they wrap up the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference finals. The Southern California regionals will take place at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills on November 7-8.
