COD Men’s Tennis continues PCAC play, falls in close one to the Knights, 5-4

COD (1-2; 1-1) continued Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play with a hard fought match against the San Diego City Knights (3-1; 3-0), falling 5-4.

Freshman Dimitrije Vukovic (Vancouver (BC) Morscrop Secondary) and freshman Jakob Dvorken (Ridgewood, NJ) continued to dominate doubles as they rolled in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, staying atop the early Conference standings. The Desert #3 Doubles team of freshman Joao Luiz Zillo Prado (São Paulo, Brazil) and freshman Eleazar Vazquez-Celes (Indio H.S.) took their match into extras, falling in the third set, 10-7.

In singles play, Vukovic, Dvorken and Prado remained undefeated in Conference play. Vukovic and Dvorken won in straight sets and Prado had to play a marathon third and defining set, winning in extras, 19-17. 

The next home match for the Roadrunners is Thursday, February 23rd against the Grossmont Griffins at 2 p.m.
