COD Men’s Golf Opens 2026 Season with First-Place Finish in Lompoc
College of the Desert Men’s Golf opened the 2026 season in dominant fashion, capturing first place in a stacked 16-team field at the season-opening tournament at La Purisima Golf Club.
College of the Desert Men's Golf opened the 2026 season in dominant fashion, capturing first place in a stacked 16-team field at the season-opening tournament at La Purisima Golf Club.
The Roadrunners finished with a two-day total of 600 (300–300), winning the event by 14 strokes over defending 3C2A State Champion College of the Canyons.
COD's lineup featured six sophomores, and they rose to the occasion against elite competition. The tournament field included six of the nine 2025 CCCAA State Championship finalists, along with eight Western State Conference teams and four NorCal programs. Desert was one of four schools representing the Orange Empire Conference.
Roadrunners Sweep the Top of the Leaderboard
Sophomore Logan Marra (Palm Desert HS) led the charge, earning individual medalist honors. Marra shot 75 (+3) on day one and improved to an even-par 72 on day two for a 147 total and a first-place finish.
Right behind him, COD nearly swept the podium.
* Mason Montgomery (Palm Desert HS) fired rounds of 72 (E) and 76 (+4) to finish at 148, tying for second overall.
* Sinjin Armstrong (La Quinta HS) made the biggest move of the tournament, bouncing back from a 77 (+5) in round one with a stellar 71 (-1) in round two. His 148 total also earned a tie for second.
COD's depth played a key role in the team victory:
* Braxton McDonald (Coldstream, BC / Kalamalka Secondary) — 76–82 = 158
* Linus Rindestad Utter (Handen, Sweden / Fredrika Bremer Gymnasiet) — 78–81 = 159
* Phar Vincent (Palm Desert / Xavier College Prep) — 82–81 = 163

The Roadrunners now turn their focus to their next event at Soboba Springs Golf Course in San Jacinto, where they will compete in the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles Golf Classic on Wednesday, February 11 at 9 a.m.
With a tournament win and three top-two individual finishes to open the season, COD has already established itself as a team to watch in 2026.
