COD Men’s Basketball sophomores, guard Gunnar Mogolis and forward Anthony Ogrodnick have signed letters of intent with Westcliff University.
COD (14-13; 5-4) guaranteed their first .500 season for the first time since the 2007-08 season, as freshman guard Sam Skipper nailed a running jumper in front of the free throw line with 5.4 seconds remaining to knockout the San Diego Miramar Jets (15-12; 4-5), 74-72.
COD (12-12; 3-3) tied a season high in steals (19) and hit eleven 3-pointers in a game where the Roadrunners led from beginning to end, as Desert knocked off the Palomar Comets of San Marcos (7-16; 1-5), 81-66.
COD (11-12; 2-3) collected one of the biggest wins in program history by knocking off the #2 team in the state, the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles (18-4; 3-2), 104-86.
COD (10-11; 1-2) struggled to get any kind of rhythm against the #11 team in California, as the Roadrunners struggled behind the arc once again and from the field, falling to the San Bernardino Valley Wolverines (16-5; 3-0), 92-62.
COD (10-10; 1-1) fell to even on the season, but a gigantic seven block performance by Nick Pete was almost overshadowed by a frustrating 7 for 33 night from beyond the arc, as the Roadrunners fell to the MiraCosta Spartans of Oceanside (10-10; 1-1), 74-63.
COD (9-9) got back to even on the season wrapping up non-Conference play, as they hosted a match-up that would make a Warner Bros. animator happy, when the Roadrunners hosted the Coyotes of Cuyamaca (3-15) and much like the cartoon, the Roadrunner would get the best of the Coyote, as Desert took the game 86-53.
COD (8-9) strained to find a rhythm all night, down at halftime, 46-38, the Roadrunners stormed back to open the second half, then the Imperial Valley Arabs (7-8) went on a 10-0 run and pulled ahead for good, as the Arabs won, 91-77.
COD (7-4) rolled to a Consolation Championship at the Santa Barbara City College Classic, falling to LA Trade Tech in the opening round, then defeating Oxnard and LA Valley while Nicholas Pete and Kristopher Howard collected double-doubles.
COD (5-3) opened up the Grossmont Invitational with a game against the state runner-up, San Diego City, knocked off LA Southwest and then ran into the host, Grossmont to win the Consolation Final.
COD (2-2) fought hard in their first head-to-head home game of the 2018 season as they fell in the closing minutes to the Moorpark College Raiders (4-3), 83-74.
COD (2-1) opened up 2018 hosting the annual Garcia Classic, facing off with Grossmont, West LA and Victor Valley in the three day tournament.
COD did not have to reach very far to find their new Men’s Basketball head coach, Trent Skinner, a Roadrunner alumnus with his eye on getting the program back into the post season for the first time since 2015.
