Reid Santos
Assistant Coach / Pitching Coach
Born and raised in Kaneohe, Hawaiʻi, Reid Santos brings nearly two decades of high-level baseball experience to the Roadrunners coaching staff. A standout pitcher for the Knights of James B. Castle High School, Santos was selected in the 23rd round of the 2000 MLB Amateur Draft. Choosing development and education over turning professional, he enrolled at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California, where he spent two seasons with the Gauchos sharpening his craft and establishing himself as a premier pitching prospect.
His continued growth led to multiple draft selections in 2001 and 2003, culminating in his selection by the Cleveland Indians in the 13th round of the 2003 MLB Draft. Santos went on to enjoy a nine-year professional playing career across three Major League organizations—the Cleveland Indians, Toronto Blue Jays, and Minnesota Twins—advancing as high as the Triple-A level.
Among his professional accolades, Santos was named Co–Pitcher of the Year in the Appalachian League in 2004, a testament to his performance and consistency on the mound. In 2006, he reached another career milestone when he was added to the Cleveland Indians’ 40-man roster, placing him among the organization’s top pitchers. He concluded his professional career in 2013.
Now in his tenth year with the Roadrunners, Santos applies his extensive professional background to the development of student-athletes, emphasizing pitching mechanics, mental toughness, and preparation at the next level. His firsthand experience in professional baseball provides Roadrunners pitchers with invaluable insight into what it takes to compete and succeed beyond the collegiate game.
