College of the Desert Baseball continued its dominant run through conference play, extending its winning streak to 15 games with a 9-1 victory over Barstow.
The Roadrunners (25-4, 15-1) have now won 12 straight against the Vikings (10-23, 7-10) and remain unbeatable at home against Barstow since February 24, 2015. COD has also won 14 consecutive games at "the friendly confines" in Palm Desert.
Freshman right fielder Kaden Prosofsky (Saskatoon, SK / Bishop James Mahoney) delivered a standout performance from the leadoff spot, going 2-for-5 with a home run, four RBIs, and a run scored. His fourth home run of the season, a solo shot that curled just inside the right-field foul pole, sparked the Roadrunners' offense.
Sophomore second baseman Malakai Lopez (Rancho Mirage HS) wasted no time responding after Barstow struck first, launching a game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the first inning. Lopez finished 1-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.
Freshman first baseman Logan Warden (Cedar Park, TX / Cedar Park HS) stepped up in a key moment after starter Derek Ball exited the game following an injury in the fifth inning. Warden delivered in the cleanup spot, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
Freshman designated hitter Noah Arreola (West Covina HS) continued his strong day at the plate, collecting his second three-hit performance of the season. He went a perfect 3-for-3 with a walk.
Freshman infielder Stephen Hutchinson (Palm Desert HS) added to the offensive depth, going 2-for-2 with a run scored for his third multi-hit game of the year.
On the mound, freshman right-hander Javier Vasquez (La Quinta HS) turned in another quality start. Making his 11th appearance of the season, Vasquez worked at least seven innings for the fifth time, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out seven.
Freshman left-hander Victor Estrada (Palm Desert HS) closed the door in dominant fashion, striking out five of the six batters he faced over the final two innings.
The Roadrunners will take their winning streak on the road before returning home for a pivotal stretch of conference play. COD hosts Cerro Coso on Thursday, April 9 at 2:30 p.m., followed by Mt. San Jacinto on Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m.
