COD Baseball Wins 13th Straight, Sweeps Chaffey for First Time Since 1999
The Roadrunners (23-4, 13-1) extended their winning streak to 13 games on Saturday, completing a dominant three-game sweep of Chaffey College with a 14-4 victory. The series sweep marks COD’s first over the Panthers since 1999.

COD wasted no time asserting control throughout the series, outscoring Chaffey (6-24, 4-11) by a combined 49- runs across the three games. The win also marks just the 10th victory over the Panthers for the Roadrunners since 2012, underscoring the significance of the series.
Freshman catcher Elijah Wyatt (Aztec, NM / Aztec HS) led the offensive surge with his first multi-hit performance of the season, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs out of the No. 8 spot in the lineup.
Sophomore shortstop Kaden Durazo (Yucaipa HS) continued his strong campaign, going 3-for-4 to record his third three-hit game of the season. He also scored twice, marking his seventh multi-run game of the year.
Sophomore third baseman Jayvin Baxa (La Quinta HS) delivered a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. It was his third three-hit game of the season and his 10th game scoring multiple runs.
Sophomore center fielder Brandon Leon (La Quinta HS) added to the offensive explosion, going 2-for-3 with two walks. He scored twice and drove in two runs, recording his 19th multi-hit game, 12th multi-run game, and 10th multi-RBI game of the season.
Freshman first baseman Derek Ball (Parker, CO / Chaparral HS) chipped in with a 2-for-3 performance, scoring two runs for his fourth multi-run game of the year.
Sophomore second baseman Malakai Lopez (Rancho Mirage HS) went 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, notching his sixth multi-RBI game of the season.
On the mound, sophomore right-hander Caleb Ortiz (Indio / Shadow Hills HS) earned his fourth win of the season, tossing six innings while allowing just one walk and striking out three. The bullpen continued to deliver, as Brady McCleery (Patterson HS) struck out three over two innings of relief, and Brandon Deth (Honolulu, HI / Moanalua HS) closed out the game with a scoreless final frame.
The Roadrunners will look to keep the momentum going as they return to Inland Empire Athletic Conference play on the road Tuesday, March 31, against Barstow at Dale Fries Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. COD returns home Thursday, April 2, to host the Vikings at 2:30 p.m.
