COD Baseball Sends 20 Student-Athletes to Four-Year Programs

College of the Desert Baseball continues to prove it is a launchpad for success on and off the field, as 20 Roadrunners from the 2025 class have advanced to continue their academic and athletic careers at four-year institutions.

The number places College of the Desert among the top programs in California for overall baseball transfers this year, according to data compiled by the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association (3CBCA). COD ranked second in the state in total baseball transfers, highlighting the strength of the program's development model and its commitment to helping student-athletes reach the next level.

The Roadrunners transfers make their impact across all 3 levels of the NC2A as well as NAIA institutions. All competitive levels that continue to offer outstanding baseball, strong scholarship opportunities, and excellent academic pathways.

"This milestone reflects what our program is truly about," Roadrunners head coach, Sam DiMatteo, shared. "Our goal is to develop complete student-athletes who are prepared to succeed at the next level academically, athletically, and personally. Seeing 20 players move on is a testament to their work ethic and dedication."

Statewide, more than 600 California Community College baseball players from the 2025 class transferred to four-year programs, with athletes spreading across the country to continue their careers. Over half of those transfers left California, demonstrating the national respect for CCCAA baseball and the preparation it provides.

For College of the Desert, the achievement underscores a consistent tradition: the Roadrunners are not just building strong teams each season, they are building futures.

As these 20 former Roadrunners take the field in new uniforms next year, they carry with them the experience, resilience, and foundation built in Palm Desert, and they add to the growing legacy of College of the Desert Baseball alumni succeeding at the next level.
