Sam DiMatteo Earns 100th Career Win

College of the Desert Baseball Head Coach Sam DiMatteo reached a major coaching milestone on Saturday, April 12, 2025, as he earned his 100th career victory with a hard-fought win on the road at Barstow.

DiMatteo, who took over the Roadrunners program ahead of the 2020 season, has been instrumental in building a new era of excellence for Desert Baseball. Although his debut season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he wasted no time in making his mark once play resumed.

In 2022, just his second full season at the helm, DiMatteo led the Roadrunners to a historic Conference Championship — the first for College of the Desert in an astonishing 51 years. That moment proved to be a turning point for the program, establishing a winning culture and setting the tone for sustained success in the seasons that followed.

Under his leadership, the Roadrunners have consistently raised the bar, developing a reputation for gritty play, player development, and team chemistry. DiMatteo's impact extends beyond the win column — his passion for the game, ability to mentor young athletes, and commitment to building a competitive and resilient program have reenergized Desert Baseball.

With his 100th win now in the books, Coach DiMatteo joins an elite group of COD coaches to reach the century mark. As the Roadrunners continue to compete at a high level in a tough conference, it's clear that this milestone is just one of many more to come.
