Roadrunners Top Comets, 4–1, for Third Straight Home Victory
The College of the Desert beach volleyball team continued its strong play at home Friday, defeating Palomar College, 4–1, to secure its third consecutive victory in Palm Desert.
The College of the Desert beach volleyball team continued its strong play at home Friday, defeating Palomar College, 4–1, to secure its third consecutive victory at Civic Center Park in Palm Desert.
The Roadrunners (6-7) earned the win over the Comets (1-2), a familiar foe from their time together in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (2018–19). With the victory, COD improves to 7-2 all-time against Palomar and snaps a two-match skid against the San Marcos squad.

No. 1 Pair
Sophomore Clairie Thomas (La Quinta H.S.) and freshman Juliette Rothe (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) set the tone early, earning a decisive 21-15, 21-12 straight-sets win.
No. 2 Pair
Sophomore Jacqueline Leon (La Quinta H.S.) and freshman Sophia Kalepp (Palm Desert H.S.) battled through a thriller. After narrowly dropping the first set 21-19, the duo responded emphatically with a 21-8 second-set win before holding on in a tight third set, 16-14.
No. 3 Pair
Freshmen Sara Hanley (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) and Nadia Malone (La Quinta H.S.) delivered a dominant performance, winning 21-11, 21-12 in straight sets.
No. 4 Pair
Freshmen Leslie Delgado (Thermal Coachella Valley) and Amber Kardol (Palm Desert H.S.) showed resilience after falling 21-15 in the opening set. They rebounded with a 21-19 second-set victory and closed it out 15-10 in the third.
No. 5 Pair
Freshmen Addison Curtis (La Quinta H.S.) and Mia Castro (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) competed hard but fell in a tightly contested straight-sets match.
College of the Desert now turns its attention to South Coast Conference play, opening at home on February 27 at 10 a.m. The Roadrunners will host the Cerritos Falcons (6-6) along with a club team representing the Los Angeles Harbor Seahawks.
With momentum building and depth across the lineup, COD looks poised to carry its home success into conference action.
