COD Beach Volleyball celebrates their home opener with split vs. Pirates, sweep of Hornets

COD (2-2) grabbed another sweep for 2023, as the team would sweep the Fullerton Hornets (0-2) and fall to the Ventura Pirates (2-0) in the final contest of the day.

The Desert 2's team of freshman Melanie Hernandez (Thermal Coachella Valley) and freshman Briana Delval (Indio H.S.) and the Desert 3's team of freshman Jacqueline Leon (La Quinta H.S.) and freshman Paige Perez (Palm Desert H.S.) would fight hard against Ventura, but the Pirates would end up taking both of those matches in straight sets.

In the match against Fullerton, the 1's team of freshman Grace Abrams (Fountain Hills (AZ) H.S.) and sophomore Katie Alexander (Yucca Valley H.S.) absolutely dominated, blowing out the Hornets, 21-6 and 21-8. The Roadrunners 2's team of Hernandez and Delval had a fight on their hands, eventually prevailing in the extra set, 15-13. And the Desert 3's team of Leon and Perez won relatively easily, 21-7 and 21-11.

The next home matches for College of the Desert Beach Volleyball will be Friday, February 10th beginning at 10 a.m., at the Civic Center Park, where they will host the Ottawa University Arizona Spirit and the Riverside City Tigers. Hope to see you there.
