COD Beach Volleyball takes 3rd sweep of 2019, collapsing the Chargers and Hornets

COD (5-1) continued their winning streak as they knocked off the Cypress Chargers (3-3) and the Fullerton Hornets (0-5).

The Roadrunner's kicked off the day of competition by blowing past the Chargers, 3-2. The "ones" team of sophomore Ashtyn Lyneis (Palm Springs H.S.) and freshman Kelsey Smith (Delta, BC South Delta Secondary)  won in two sets, 26-24 and 21-11. The "two's" team of freshman Taylor Adair (Yucca Valley H.S.) and freshman Kathleen Geiberger (Palm Desert H.S.) also defeated Cypress in two sets, 23-21 and 21-15. After the Chargers came roaring back to take the next two matches, the "fives" team of sophomore Baylie Dashner (La Quinta H.S.) and sophomore Emily Sundback (Rancho Mirage H.S.) sealed the win for the Roadrunners by taking Cypress in two sets, 21-12 and 21-16.

Desert kept the momentum going as they overwhelmed the Fullerton Hornets, 5-0. Jump starting the streak for the Roadrunners was the "one's" team of sophomore Ashtyn Lyneis (Palm Springs H.S.) and freshman Kelsey Smith (Delta, BC South Delta Secondary) who took the win in an extra set, 21-19, 14-21, and 15-3. Desert took the next three matches in two sets, with the most dominating preformance by the "fives" team of sophomore Baylie Dashner (La Quinta H.S.) and sophomore Emily Sundback (Rancho Mirage H.S.) who won in straight sets, 21-7 and 21-7.

The next home matches for College of the Desert Beach Volleyball will be Friday, March 8th beginning at 10 a.m., at the Civic Center Park, where they will take on the Pasadena Lancers. Hope to see you there.
