COD Softball has 4 named All-Conference

Complete list of the 2017 All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Softball Team HERE

COD Softball players, Malissa Nielsen, Amanda Martinez, Darbie Catalfamo and Yizel Nunez were named All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.

Under the tutelage of coach Garrett Estrin, in his 1st full season at the helm, Desert Softball ended the 2017 season with a record of 4-25 overall and 2-14 in Conference, finishing eighth.

On the field, sophomore center fielder Malissa "Moo" Nielsen (Palm Desert H.S.) was named second team all-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. She finished tied for 4th in Conference and 49th in the state with 3 triples on the season, Nielsen finished 13th in the Conference with .419 batting average. She had eight multi-hit games on the season, with four 3 hit games and four 2 hits games. Nielsen had her best all-around offensive game was at home against Mt. San Jacinto on April 7th, when she went 3 for 4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and three runs batted in.
 
Sophomore left handed pitcher Amanda Martinez (Indio H.S.) was named honorable mention all-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. She finished tops on the team with 60.1 innings pitched, tossing six complete games and striking out 15 in ten starts on the season. At the plate, Martinez had two multi-hit games, her best all-around offensive game was at San Diego City on March 17th, when she went 3 for 4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and two RBI's. 

Also named honorable mention was Sophomore catcher Darbie Catalfamo (Indio Shadow Hills). She finished tied for 6th in the Conference with five runners caught stealing and hit the only home run for the Roadrunners in 2017, a three-run shot to left center in the top of the seventh at San Bernardino Valley on April 14th. Catalfamo, pronounced Kah-TAH-fah-Mo, hit .306 at the plate, finishing third on the team in batting average and leading the team in doubles with seven. She had four multi-hit games with her best game a 3 for 4 day at the plate, a double, a home run, three RBI's and a run scored at San Bernardino Valley on April 14th.

Sophomore right handed pitcher Yizel "Yah-Yah" Nunez (Beaumont H.S.) was also named honorable mention all-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. She finished second on the team with 52.0 innings pitched, tossing six complete games and striking out 14 in ten starts on the season. At the plate, Nunez had four multi-hit games, her best all-around offensive game was at home against Mt. San Jacinto on April 7th, when she went 3 for 4 with a run scored.
