COD Men’s Golf ends 2017 season with 6th place finish at SoCal Finals

COD Men's Golf sophomore Nicolas Beeken (Liège, Belgium) finished as the leader, shooting a 9-over, 153 over two rounds, as the Roadrunners grabbed a six place finish the CCCAA SoCal Finals, hosted at the par-72 El Camino Country Club in Oceanside.

The SoCal Finals featured two teams from the Roadrunners conference, the PCAC, four Western State Conference teams and three Orange Empire Conference teams. The event was won by Riverside City by eight strokes and a total team score of 750, Desert would finish with a team score of 785 in the all-day event.

Beeken shot a five-over 77 on the first day and bested that effort on day two, shooting a 76 for a total of 153. Freshman Sam Berglund (Melbourne, Australia) and freshman Gauthier Adams (Liège, Belgium) both shot a 156, as both players shot opposites on different rounds. Berglund shot a 79 in the morning round, while Adams shot a 77. In the afternoon, Adams shot a 79, while Berglund shot a 77. Right behind them was freshman Matt Schmitt (Brawley H.S.), who shot a 79 in the morning and a 78 in the afternoon for a total of 156 on the day.

Freshman Maxime Faure (Deauville, France), in only his second event of the 2017 season, shot a 163 and freshman Steven Wang (Taipei, Taiwan) wrapped up the season shooting an 171.
